Trail des Lacs du Jura 2026: complete FR + EN guide
Trail et Rando des Lacs meets in Clairvaux-les-Lacs on Saturday 25 April 2026. The long trail route lists about 28 km and 960 m of ascent in the Jura lake district, with a deliberately simple, non-timed and volunteer-led spirit.
Race overview
This guide follows the Week 15 schedule slug: it is not a competitive ultra, but it is a useful nature route for building a Jura trail base.
The free-format approach changes the goal: no ranking to chase, but a good opportunity to test kit, pacing and autonomy on Jura terrain.

Prepare the 28 km with two-to-three-hour hilly runs, accelerations on damp trails and active hiking on short climbs.
If you are building toward an ultra, use this event as a logistics rehearsal: vest, bottles, food, shoes and recovery after the effort.
Trail des Lacs mandatory / necessary gear
The 2026 format is simple and non-timed, but runners should be autonomous: no cups at water points and solid food mainly at the finish.
- Bottle or flask effectively required because water points do not provide cups.
- Charged phone, ID, small food reserve and payment method for the voluntary contribution.
- Light windproof or waterproof jacket depending on forecast, buff and dry layer for after the run.
- Trail shoes suited to damp Jura tracks, roots and forest paths.
- Route or map available, because free courses require attentive following of signs.
The spirit is friendly, but autonomy is real: start with enough to drink and finish safely.

Logistics to solve early
The start is in Clairvaux-les-Lacs, with grouped or free starts depending on distance and time window. Registration is on site with a voluntary contribution supporting the club.
The non-timed format means you should check route opening and finish-aid timing, especially if starting late.
Transport: Lons-le-Saunier, Champagnole, Geneva or Lyon
The most useful stations are Lons-le-Saunier and Champagnole, then regional bus, taxi or car to Clairvaux-les-Lacs. Saturday connections can be sparse.
Practical airports are Geneva, Lyon-Saint-Exupéry and Dole-Jura depending on flights. A car remains the most flexible option for exploring the lake district.
Accommodation: Clairvaux, Vouglans or Lons-le-Saunier
Clairvaux-les-Lacs and campsites around the lakes are ideal if you want to walk to the start or stay for the weekend.
Lons-le-Saunier has more hotels and trains; Lake Vouglans and nearby villages work well by car.
